Marion Boehm's collages reveal what she calls the "natural beauty" of women, men and children from different continents such as North and Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia and the Middle East. The portraits she has captured, or chosen in collaboration with renowned photographers, are always seen from an ennobling angle - the expression of her characters invites the viewer to enter into a one-to-one inner dialogue with them. In this new series, the captivating portraits by renowned Lebanese photographer Roger Moukarzel, taken from an exhibition entitled "Jamal", explore oriental beauty. "Every encounter brings us something, every person opens us up to the world and helps us to better understand its diversity. The stranger is no longer a stranger, but a new piece of homeland. The other becomes a fragment of the mirror of our own self". As a European, Marion's work brings a new vision, her depiction of free women and men, respectful of their bodies and their human dignity, her work underlines the value of intercultural exchange. Marion Boehm reveals her deep respect for each culture she embraces and identifies with in her colourful collages using selected materials. She examines the relationships between the different cultures of other continents and that of the West in history from yesterday to today. The texts in English or Arabic that scroll across the faces of her characters celebrate the personality of each of them and repeat themselves, decoding the intention of the work while leaving room for reflection and interpretation by the viewer.
