"Oran, timeless muse, shapes my artistic universe. Its landscapes nourish a free abstraction, where geometric forms and altered ‘unforms’ open space for emotion. The colors, captured on the spot, become as many windows into the imaginary."

Lives and works in Oran
A graduate of the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts of Algiers, Faiza Djeffal-Tahraoui develops a singular practice that blends painting, weaving, collage, and mixed techniques. Her work draws inspiration from the landscapes of Oran and its coastline, as well as from a sensitive memory nourished by inner sensations and fragmentary reminiscences.
Her artistic universe, marked by abstraction and deliberately altered “mis-forms,” unfolds as an emotional cartography where the boundaries between inside and outside, memory and perception, become porous. Her palette, imbued with Mediterranean light, invites both contemplation and visual wandering.
She has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Algeria, France, and Spain, including at MAMO (Museum of Modern Art of Oran), the Sidi Mohammed Ben Merzoug Museum in Mostaganem, the Ahmed Zabana Museum in Oran, and the Sonatrach headquarters. In Algiers, she has held a solo show at the Baya Gallery of the Moufdi Zakaria Cultural Palace.
Internationally, her work has been shown in Ceuta, Palma de Mallorca, and Denia as part of La Mar dels Balèarics, an initiative led by Fundació Baleària and the Govern de les Illes Balears. In France, she exhibited in Paris (Vendôme Création, 2012), Strasbourg (at the Algerian Consulate and Zone d’Art in collaboration with the Rue Méditerranée association), and Lyon (at the Orange headquarters). She was also invited by Rue Méditerranée to take part in the Semaine Méditerranéenne in Oran, a project dedicated to artistic dialogues across the Mediterranean basin.
