Founded in 2018 by Yasmine Azzi-Kohlhepp, AYN GALLERY was born of the desire to bring together emerging and established artists from the Maghreb region, sub-Saharan Africa, and the diaspora. The gallery is actively committed to promoting dialogue and openness, fostering international collaborations and welcoming artists from diverse geographical, cultural and aesthetic backgrounds.
AYN GALLERY supports its artists by collaborating with other galleries and organizing exhibitions punctuated by specific invitations, even
beyond the gallery walls.
"Art only takes on its full meaning when it transmits tolerance beyond differences, which in turn become a source of richness and complementarity. It acts as a powerful catalyst, redefining our subjective reality by renewing our connection with ourselves, our environment and our humanity.
Like the phonemes that give meaning to speech, our differences shape our essence. Every culture is unique, enriching and invaluable. Art transcends borders, teaching us to appreciate diversity as a unifying and enriching force in our shared human experience". Yasmine Azzi-Kohlhepp.
The choice of the word "AYN", which means "eye" in Hebrew and Arabic, symbolizes a gallery that brings an open vision through multidisciplinary exhibitions and varied programming, including a wide range of mediums, such as painting, sculpture, design, installations, film, photography, drawing and ceramics.
The gallery space offers a unique immersive experience, inviting visitors to explore a world where different artistic disciplines openly engage in dialogue. Each work thus becomes a window onto a distinct artistic universe, revealing varied aspects of culture and provoking reflection in the public.
Yasmine Azzi-Kohlhepp is founder and co-publisher of Éditions du Crieur Public, established in 2010 in Hamburg, Germany. Drawing on her experience as a journalist and her artistic training, she is committed to supporting artists through monographs and artist catalogs.
With a view to fostering dialogue between East and West, as well as building bridges between different cultures, artists and the public, Éditions du Crieur Public, specializing in the humanities and social sciences, strives to complement AYN GALLERY's approach by promoting intellectual exchange.
